My Ice Palace [open]

The time was 3:15 and the bells ring the end of a school day. Students file out of the doors and begin the walk to home. Others take vehicles for the long journey ahead of them. A group of students walk out of the door, their faces full of laughter and joy.

Most of them were boys and they were laughing at one particular person, a girl. She was in the mist of the boys and seemed to be great friends with them. Most of the boys had brown or black hair but this girl had blue hair that tried to imitate the sky above them. It was her out of all of them that was laughing the hardest, tears edging at her eye.

"I can't believe that happened, Rin!" one of them laughed. "You sure your bird Sato did that?"

"I'm not joking!" the blue haired girl, Rin, cried out. "Sato just flew right at his face and bombed on him! It was the best thing that has ever happened to me ever!"

The group laughs out and they stopped at the gate of the school.

"Can you come and visit my place Rin?" one of the boys asks. The girl shook her head and replied,

"Nah, I got some stuff to do at my parent’s shop. Heard we were getting new hamsters and we need to get them into the right cages."

"Alright then, later Rin."

"See you later guys," Rin replied and the boys went right as she went left. The town was just starting to get into gear and the people were gathering on the sidewalks, making Rin's walk slightly difficult. The girl was stopped at a cross road when a blue shape flew at her. It was a bird and it seemed excited to see her.

"Jazz!" she cried out, holding out her hand for the bird to land. "You decided to follow me home this time? How sweet of you."

The parakeet chirped in her hand and climbed up to her shoulder where it snuggled its head into her neck.

"You're adorable you know that?" she told him and he chirped again. The people started to move and pushed Rin along with them. The sound of chatter, moving cars, and television commercial filled the air but Rin was already in her own world.

A pair of headphones was already on her ears, blaring out music to drown out the rest of the world. Not much could get past the rocking music unless someone walked up to her and pulled the headphones off. No one did that though, so she continued to walk past the busy city, though a walkway, and into a quiet neighborhood. At this time, she pulled the headphones off and shut of the music. The silence to the place would worry some others who lived in the big city, but not Rin. This was the place she was born and raised in and the quiet was all she needed.

Ah, she thought. Peace and quiet from the noise of the world. It feels great to be here. The blue haired girl walked deeper into the neighborhood, rooftops coming so close together that the alleyways between them were shaded. Laughter of children floated up to her ear and she smiled at the as she passed. Jazz had flown off her shoulder some time ago and was playing with a green bird that was owned by Rin.

It was an oasis to Rin from the dangers of the world and would protect it at any means necessary.

In the day, the people own this neighborhood as their living place and safe haven. That is only possible if the Ice Queen rules over this land. A frown had appeared on her face and a breeze flew past her.

She continued to walk though the tight alleyways of the town, slipping though the shadows until she reached her home. As she exited the tight space and entered her home, there was a very dark sign that could not be seen unless proper lighting was shined upon it. If one could read it, they would find the words maybe frightening.

Beware of thee Ice Queen

Akito was wandering around again. He never seemed to get tired of walking at late nights. He loved the chilly feeling at night. True, he liked the night better than the day. Greeting him, "Ah, what a nice day today is!" pisses him off. Why? Well, easy, first, bright sunny days are HOT. Well, he guessed only housewives say that because they need to dry their cloths.

Either way, it's normal for Akito to walk around at night, now. His brother seems to treat him more better recently. Akito appreciates that, really. Or maybe it was Akito, who wanted her brother to treat him better badly made him think like this? He's unsure, but at his he didn't lock him up again!

He passed through a house. A girl was opening it. He could see something but due to poor lightning he can't see it properly. He saw the word, "Queen". Could it be an Air Trek kind of Queen? Or is it the cards' queen? He decided to ignore that but find himself quite tired. He rested on the lamp post just outside the girl's house. He wasn't interrupting her, so it's okay. He wasn't blocking the lightning either. All he did was just sitting there and gaze at the sky.

The light of the day was getting darker and darker as time went by. The shadows grew bigger and the children were all returning back home to their families. Some blocks away from Rin's home was a pet store that was in the mist of closing down for the day.

"The hamsters are getting along well with the others," a tall man said, his voice deep and steady. "What do you say Rin?"

Rin was watching the hamsters behind a plastic wall and wiggling her fingers at them. She looked up to her father and replied,

"They seem fine; we even got some to be sold today. The fishes, however, are going left and right. I think we have to get some more later in the month."

Another blue haired woman walked from the back of the store with bags of food for the pets.

"Rin, dear, how about you go back home. You still have some homework to do right?" Rin immediately perked up and began rattling off things of how she had forgotten about it and rushed out the door with her bag in hand. The door behind her slammed shut and she ran some yards until she steadied down into a peaceful walk. Rin looked around the dark alleyways that were dark with shadows.

None of this scared her; she lived her entire life here. It provided a wonderful place to hid when escaping from Storm Riders and then appearing some feet away from them for an attack.

"I am the Ice Queen," Rin softly said, a flicker of sadness in it. "A Queen should know her own palace and its secrets." The soft chirping of birds and songs of crickets floated around her and she took it in happily. Halfway though the walk, Rin looked around her and sat down on the ground.

She proceeded to take of her shoes and pulled out her AT's in her bag. A quick flick of the hand and her wheels were on tight ready for riding. Rin stood up and rode up a wall to get on the rooftops. There, the dying sun shined a faint orange before handing its throne to the moon of the world. It was a signal and sign for the changing of day and the shift of people.

This, to Rin, was when she changed from the sweet little girl that everyone loved, to the feared Ice Queen. At school, she hears about the Ice Queen; how she gives no pity to all Storm Riders that try to take over her Palace, how she strikes fear in all who attempt to take it over. No one would ever think the sweet little girl, who wouldn't even hurt a fly, could ever be this heartless woman.

Rin continued to watch the moonlight for a few seconds before she shot off into the air with a trick and landed on a rooftop. Hop, skip, and jump and she was back in the air again.

The wind blew through the town just then and Rin readjusted herself to blow with the wind and landed softly atop her home. A breath of air left her mouth as the wind left her Palace and her icy road. The rush of the run made Rin smile and she was about to swing down into her room with an open window when Jazz started to cry!

Rin jumped down into her room and carefully held the blue bird in her hands. The cry certainly hurt her ears but she had to calm him down unless she wanted to wake the entire city. A few minutes later, the bird was placed back in his cage and silent. Rin rolled over to the window and saw the cause of the cry.

A boy, very young by her eye, was sitting underneath a close by light pole. His blue hair didn't really surprise her but what caught her eye was the eye patch and the straitjacket. News was around that a police force was after all illegal AT users. They also went after those who wore AT's anyways. A picture of the boy flashed in her head and she hoped down to face him.

"What are you doing here?" she asked in a cold voice.

It's getting late. His brother should be back by now. He can't wait to see him when he gets back! When he was young, he was always abused by his brother. He still can't figure out the reason why he was treating him good now. He looked around some more and decided to head back. But when he was about to, he heard someone in a woman's voice of a cold tone.

Being a half police and half storm rider, he wasn't shocked. The word Queen he saw earlier. It must be her. Night is coming, its the sign of the awakening. The awakening of the storm riders, at least. Most battles were held at night. He better leave, soon.

He didn't feel like responding the Ice Queen. So instead of responding, he dropped to the ground and began leaning forward on his AT's. In other words, he's walking away slowly. Yes, slowly. Easy enough for the Ice Queen to attack him. Not easy, too easy. Akito kept his guard up. He doesn't need injuries.
